dirintal

the coins will ring as she walks the main road
finding her spot beside the small pharmacy store
at the local wet and dry market.
she rest her wagon of viands beside her kumares
her suki had known of her location and wouldn't miss it
and at times this skinny little boy would pop up beside her
hanging out for sometime especially when school's out
and not so far from the wagon is an array of robot toys
colorful and magically transforms into animals, cars or some sort of other figure
the boy would nag the lady to buy one, the orange one that transforms into a tiger
she would escape with "sa birthday mo" and the boy will be silenced...
counting each day, each month..
and true enough he got a robot, though not the one that morphs into a tiger
but combines with another robot to form a larger robot...
COOOOOOL!!!
the boy, overjoyed with the robot gift... along with all the gift as well, hugged and thanked everyone.

But now, the boy has grown, has lost or damaged the toys given to him on his birthday, and frequently hugs people in his household...
and the lady is in her death bed for months, and not later than this week her life support will be cut.

dirintal - an apron for the lower half body that has three open pouches and in the middle pouch there is a small zipper pouch. This was usually used by vendors in wet and dry markets as money storage.

  1. I am very ... very sorry to hear about that Dave. Jhie told me about it but I didn't really know what to say. I offer my condolences in you and your family's time of grief. Be strong in this time of weakness.
